Students Supporting the Womens Law Center

The Women's Law Center (WLC) advocates for a level playing field for women and children through direct services, such as operating a family law and employment hotline; representing victims of domestic violence; and seeking protective orders for immigrant women. The WLC also advocates by writing or joining amicus brief on issues furthering its mission and lobbying in Annapolis on topics such as emergency contraception, consent education, and allowing protective orders as evidence in divorce hearings.

Students Supporting the Women's Law Center (SSWLC) supports the Women’s Law Center of Maryland and promotes a feminist dialogue on Maryland Carey Law’s campus. We raise money for the WLC, have a mentoring partnership with the WLC Board, send interns to the WLC, and attend WLC events. On campus, we host events concerning feminist topics like reproductive justice, sexual assault, and online harassment. Last, we volunteer with Baltimore-area intersectional feminist organizations like FORCE: Upsetting Rape Culture.
