About our work

Established in 2001, the LRC’s tobacco team is supported primarily with funding from the Maryland Department of Health through the Cigarette Restitution Fund. The LRC’s tobacco team provides technical legal assistance on tobacco law and policy issues by developing resources and conducting in-person and virtual training sessions for public health professionals. The tobacco team also offers legal guidance to state and local governments, legislators, non-governmental organizations, health advocacy groups, and Maryland residents. The tobacco team works closely with state agencies such as the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Cannabis Commission and the Office of the Attorney General, as well as members of the Maryland General Assembly.
