Latino Law Students Association

The Latinx Law Students Association (LLSA) of the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law is a law student organization recognized by the Student Bar Association. LLSA’s primary mission is to serve as a resource for social and academic support, as well as community engagement to the greater Latinx community, for law students of Latinx heritage and their allies. LLSA members make up a network of students with interests in many fields of law who are devoted to the continued success of every LLSA member. Additionally, LLSA seeks to provide a bridge for its members to become actively involved in associations and agencies concerned with issues impacting the Latinx community in Maryland and nationwide. LLSA representatives support and may attend LatinoJustice PRLDEF Law Day, the Maryland State Bar Association, Hispanic Committee meetings and are involved in the Hispanic National Bar Association and the Maryland Hispanic Bar Association. LLSA members also provide pro bono assistance through the Maryland Immigrant Legal Assistance Project of the Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland.

IMPACTO Award

The IMPACTO Award is presented to a lawyer, Latinx or ally, whose work in the legal academy, judiciary, private practice of law, government, public service agency or community organization has positively impacted Latinx and/or Latinx communities.  Recipients serve as role models and a source of inspiration for LLSA members.
