Gregory A. Brightbill (pronouns: he/they) is the director of student services at Maryland Carey Law. Dr. Brightbill is responsible for overseeing the Peer Advisor Program, ensuring that reasonable accommodations are provided to qualified law students as mandated by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), counseling students in distress, managing the day-to-day operations of the Maryland Carey Law House Cup, and developing initiatives to enhance student care, well-being, resilience, and a sense of belonging at Maryland Carey Law. He also supervises the assistant director of student services.

Prior to joining Maryland Carey Law, Dr. Brightbill served as the associate director of student leadership and involvement at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB). As the associate director, he oversaw campus-wide student engagement and leadership education, providing strategy to ongoing initiatives within the central division of UMB Students Affairs. In this capacity, he worked alongside the vice president of student affairs in developing university-wide policies and procedures for student health, safety, engagement, and support services. Additionally, in 2019 he created and implemented UMB’s first micro-credentialling initiative called The Learning Institute, which expanded to include 24 micro-courses and digital badges free to UMB students, staff, and faculty. Dr. Brightbill also served as the interim director for academic and professional coaching.

Prior to joining UMB, Dr. Brightbill worked in housing and residence life at James Madison University and at the Maryland Institute College of Art. Outside of UMB, Dr. Brightbill is an adjunct associate professor at the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) where he teaches Professional and Career Exploration in the First Year Experience program. In addition, he works part time as a training consultant for LGBTQ+ inclusive best practices through his company Bright Baltimore and serves on an LGBTQ+ advisory committee for Baltimore City Public Schools.

Dr. Brightbill holds a Doctor of Education in Higher Education from Frostburg State University, a Master of Business Administration from the UMGC, a Master of Education in College Student Personnel Administration from James Madison University, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Frostburg State University.
