Derek Baumgardner is an administrative law judge with the Baltimore County Office of Administrative Hearings where he adjudicates land use and development, personnel, ERS, and police trial board matters. Prior to this appointment, he was a land use attorney with the Baltimore office of Whiteford Taylor Preston, LLP, focusing on community-based development supporting mission-driven and socially conscious developers and organizations engaged in land acquisition, construction, and commercial development. His primary areas of practice include land use, real estate, and environmental law. In private practice, he regularly represented clients before regulatory bodies including local boards, commissions, legislatures, and courts throughout Maryland. He is a graduate of Loyola University Maryland (BS), the University of Baltimore (MS), and the University of Baltimore School of Law (JD). Following law school, he clerked for the Hon. Brian D. Shockley, Circuit Court for Worcester County, Maryland.
