Aadhithi Padmanabhan joined the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law in 2022 to direct the Federal Appellate Immigration Clinic. Professor Padmanabhan was formerly a supervising attorney at The Legal Aid Society in New York City, where she represented clients on a variety of immigration-related matters before administrative agencies and federal courts. She was previously a Skadden Fellow and then a staff attorney at the New York Civil Liberties Union.
Professor Padmanabhan’s research involves deportation and detention, with a focus on the ways in which administrative law principles are developed, modified, and applied in the immigration context.
She received her JD from Yale Law School, where she was awarded the Charles G. Albom Prize for Excellence in Appellate Advocacy in Connection with a Clinical Program. She graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard College.
