Edward Yee serves as Of Counsel at Hopkins IP, LLC, and has practiced patent law since 1998, preparing and prosecuting numerous patent applications in the electronics, information systems, software, and mechanical areas.
In particular, he has drafted and prosecuted applications in the fields of computer graphics, optical networking, information security, cryptography, bioinformatics, industrial machinery, and business methods. Additionally, Professor Yee prepares invalidity and non-infringement opinions of counsel. Past opinions addressed technologies including device testing systems, financial modeling systems, pharmaceutical formulations, and database architectures. Further, he has argued in patent appeals proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Professor Yee represents independent inventors, start-ups, and established technology companies. Previous clients include Reebok, British Aerospace, Qualcomm, Intel, Google, Cisco, and Salesforce.
He is a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars organized by the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), the Transactional Clinic Conference, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center at Morgan State University, and the Graduate Research Innovation District of the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
Prior to joining Hopkins IP, he served as senior attorney in the Electronics Practice Group at Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox, PLLC and as an associate in the Technology Division of Venable LLP. Before becoming an attorney, he worked for 17 years as a mathematician/computer scientist for the National Security Agency, where he served as an analyst and manager in the Information Assurance Directorate.
