Maryland Carey Law’s top leadership positions are held by women: (l-r) Renée Laurent, dean; Leigh Goodmark, associate dean for research and faculty development; Deborah Eisenberg, vice dean.
For the second time this academic year, the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law has been recognized for its commitment to gender diversity.
The most recent honor is the law school’s inclusion on the 2026 Executive Alliance Honor Roll.
This distinction recognizes organizations in Maryland that demonstrate a meaningful commitment to gender equity. One of the criteria requires that at least 30% of the C-suite and 30% of the board of directors identify as women. Maryland Carey Law far exceeds those benchmarks with 70% of the top leadership positions held by women, including the dean and vice dean, while 44% of the Maryland Carey Law Board of Visitors are women, including the chair and vice chair.
Since 2007, the Executive Alliance, a high-power group supporting women leaders in Maryland, has tracked and analyzed the representation of women at the highest levels of leadership through its annual Census Report: Women Board Directors in Maryland. The Honor Roll is a distinguished component of that research and highlights organizations that are helping to shift the narrative for professional women across the state.
Honorees will be celebrated at an event on March 18 at the Laurel Park Racetrack.
The event will bring together leaders who are advancing women in leadership and will feature insights from selected honorees on how women can advocate for and support one another.
In October, Maryland Carey Law received the Empowering Women Award, presented by The Daily Record.
