Monique Dixon, a former Biden-Harris administration official, began her role as the executive director of the Gibson-Banks Center for Race and the Law last week. Dixon said the center aims to accomplish racial justice in Baltimore and nationwide through public education, community engagement, advocacy and research.
“We’ll use these strategies to clarify and protect the legal rights of racially marginalized groups with a focus on the criminal, legal, education, employment, housing and health systems,” Dixon said of the center’s mission, adding that she plans to reach out to stakeholders, community members, government officials and nonprofit organizations to help prioritize various projects.
