Early in the fall 2024 semester, Maryland Carey Law hosted its final signature event celebrating the institution’s 200th anniversary—a festive crab feast on a beautiful September day in Baltimore.
Each year, the Maryland Carey Law School Club, a leadership giving society, hosts a crab feast for members. In recognition of the law school’s bicentennial, the club this year opened the event up to the larger alumni community and their families and moved the event to Phillips Seafood’s iconic Baltimore Crab Deck.
More than 130 alumni and friends enjoyed great food, harbor views, and a chance to relax and connect. In attendance were several judges, firm leaders, senior faculty and administrators, and members of Maryland Carey Law’s Board of Visitors and Alumni Board.
“The crab feast was a wonderful event to celebrate our law school’s 200th anniversary,” said Cara O’Brien ’07, one of the Maryland Carey Law School Club co-chairs (pictured above right with past co-chairs). “I’m so grateful for everything this school has given me—a wonderful legal education and skills and an amazing network of fellow alumni. Cheers to 200 years!”
Former Maryland Carey Law School Club co-chairs Letam Duson ’13, Barry Herman ’99, Joanne Pollak ‘76, and founding chair Charles Tatelbaum ’66 also attended.
Members of the Maryland Carey Law School Club are philanthropic leaders committed to sustaining the law school’s ability to educate future lawyers and leaders. Membership includes invitations to special events like the crab feast, Champagne Toast, and other networking opportunities.
Throughout 2024, Maryland Carey Law has been celebrating 200 years of bold leadership. During Alumni Weekend in April, club members were welcomed to a bicentennial bash at the beautifully restored M&T Bank Exchange in downtown Baltimore.
