The Intellectual Property Law Program at Maryland Carey Law is thrilled to recognize the Intellectual Property Law Track graduates of the class of 2024. Similar to previous graduates, the track graduates emerge not only with a deep understanding of intellectual property law but also with practical experience gained through clinics and externships, preparing them for successful careers in this specialized field.
Students choosing to take on the additional law school challenge of completing the Intellectual Property Law Track embark on an ambitious journey, completing core courses such as Intellectual Property Law Survey, Patent Law, Trademarks and Unfair Competition, Copyright Law, and Trade Secrets, before further honing their knowledge through electives focusing on advanced IP topics, tailoring their coursework to their specific needs and interests. “Professors are well versed in their specialty areas and passionate about encouraging students to not shy away from complex concepts. My professors encouraged the use of technology and IP-focused news alerts to keep in touch with the constantly evolving IP jurisprudence,” Eniola Ajose-Adeogun ’24 reflected.
One hallmark of the Track is its experiential learning component. Students have the opportunity to work in the Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship Clinic, providing legal services to startup companies and small businesses. Alternatively, they can opt for an IP externship, gaining hands-on experience in the field. These experiences not only enhance their understanding of IP law but also prepare them for the realities of legal practice.
Upon graduation, students who have completed the IP Law Track receive a letter from Program Director, Professor Patricia Campbell, outlining their achievements and highlighting why they are particularly well-suited for a career in intellectual property law. This recognition is a testament to their dedication and hard work throughout law school as they navigated the additional requirements of graduating on the Track.
This year’s graduates include Eniola Ajose-Adeogun, Marc-Anthony Armand, Jonah Berthelsen, Raabia S. Cheema, Veronica Dohr, Richard Hoffberg, Mercedes Subhani, and Nikki Vafai. Among the many prestigious places this year's graduates will begin their legal careers is Sterne Kessler, Baker McKenzie, Extensio Law, and in clerkships for Maryland courts.
