Washington, D.C. was buzzing on March 7th as President Biden prepared to give the annual State of the Union address in the Capitol. Above it all, overlooking the White House and with breathtaking views of downtown DC’s historic government buildings, Maryland Carey Law’s Intellectual Property Law Program hosted an alumni reception made possible by Brian Hill ’12 and his firm King & Spalding LLP.
Director of the Intellectual Property Law Program, Professor Patricia Campbell, welcomed alumni, current students, and even a few prospective students to a wonderful night of reconnecting with old friends and forging new relationships, all bound by their shared connection to Maryland Carey Law and their interest in intellectual property.
“Bringing our Intellectual Property Maryland Carey Alumni together in DC makes sense as a significant number of our alumni work in the area,” proclaimed Managing Director of the Intellectual Property Law Program Heather Terech. The strong attendance was a great sign of the robust Maryland Carey alumni community and the significant impact our alumni have on the intellectual property field. It was a special night.”
Brian Hill ’12, Senior Associate for International Trade at King & Spalding, graciously donated the venue for the evening’s festivities. The rooftop terrace at King & Spalding’s DC office directly neighboring the White House was the perfect setting for the Intellectual Property Program’s first foray into holding events in DC.
Professor Campbell commented, “We are grateful to Brian for hosting us in this beautiful location. It was a wonderful opportunity to see our alums again, and I was excited to meet future IP students. Many thanks to Brian for his generosity.”
Hoping to duplicate the success of this event, the IP Program is hard at work planning another networking event for the next academic year.
