First time was definitely a charm this fall for the ADR Team who brought home top honors from the Cardozo School of Law Invitational Negotiation Entertainment, Media, and Art (CINEMA) Competition. Students LaQuan Bates '25 and Ja’Miyah Price '25 represented the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, and they did not disappoint. This was the first time the Maryland Carey Law ADR Team participated in this competition. Out of 32 talented teams, LaQuan and Ja’Miyah finished in first place! They were aided by their amazing coach, attorney Bruce DelValle.
In the ABA Law Student Division Regional Negotiation Competition, the ADR team finished among the top schools. Maryland Carey Law sent two teams comprised of Kennedy Hagens '24 and Negheen Guiv '24, and Melissa La Motta '25 and Nathan Holliman '25. Texas Tech School of Law hosted the 22 regional teams. Out of 22 teams, both Maryland Carey Law teams finished in the top 7 with Kennedy and Negheen ending with a 2-0 record. Adjunct faculty member Barry Gogel '97 coached and traveled with the teams providing valuable support throughout the competition and preparation.
