The Board of Visitors is a collaborative and advisory group with a strong professional and philanthropic commitment to the law school. In joining the Board of Visitors, the seven newest members will draw from their diverse perspectives as members of Congress, the Judiciary, the public interest and legal services community, business and industry, and the law firm community to provide insight and support to the law school.
“We are thrilled to welcome such a diverse group of enthusiastic alumni and partners to our Board of Visitors and look forward to working together to strengthen the law school for years to come,” said Dean Renée McDonald Hutchins.
In addition to approving the seven new members at its last gathering, the board recognized the successful leadership of Howard K. Kurman ‘75, who was chairing the final meeting of his three-year term. As board chair, Kurman helped the law school smoothly navigate the unexpected arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic, the unprecedented shift to virtual learning and activities, and the transition from Dean Donald Tobin to Dean Renée McDonald Hutchins.
This summer, Tamika Tremaglio ‘95, executive director of the National Basketball Players Association, will begin her three-year term as board chair. She will be joined on the executive committee by Alicia Wilson ‘07, who was unanimously elected to the position of vice chair, and Sharon Krevor-Weisbaum ‘87, who will continue her term as secretary. The board also unanimously approved Harriet Cooperman ‘78, Henry Hopkins ‘68, and John Isbister ‘77 for emeritus status.
Moreover, the board recognized and thanked the Honorable Alison L. Asti ‘79 and Lewis Leibowitz ‘75 for their years of exceptional service to the Board of Visitors, and their steadfast commitment to the Maryland Carey Law.
“The committed leaders on our Board of Visitors warmly welcomed me as I navigated my first year as dean of this wonderful institution,” said Hutchins, “and I look forward to many more years of partnership as we continue our pursuit of excellence.”
