Serving on a team of two lead attorneys, Environmental Law Program alumnus and Assistant Attorney General at Office of the Attorney General of Virginia, Dan Ingersoll '07, secured the largest open space conservation easement in Virginia state history.
The partnership between The Nature Conservancy, the Virginia Department of Forestry and the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality will permanently protect 22,856 acres of forest land in Russell County with an open space easement. The easement will allow for sustainable forestry, improve access to outdoor recreation, and increase protection of wildlife habitat and water quality.
Congratulations to Dan and his team on the win and in taking a large step towards conservation efforts throughout the Delmarva area. Read more about the conservation easement.
