The Environmental Law Clinic had a terrific 2020-2021 school year. The Clinic remained focused on environmental justice with students engaging on multiple issues related to rail transportation, water and air pollution, and urban agriculture.
In one matter, the Clinic appealed a Planning Board decision regarding the siting of a gas station in Prince George’s County on behalf of a local community group. In several other matters, the Clinic drafted extensive administrative comments for community groups, pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act and Clean Water Act. In addition, the Clinic provided counseling and drafting assistance to a non-profit organization abroad for proposed legislation to regulate coal ash waste, using the United States as an example. Finally, the Clinic also conducted several legal education and empowerment webinars on environmental law that were very well attended.
It is truly amazing how much our Clinic students were able to accomplish despite being remote the entire school year.
