Juliana Brensinger ’20 is now a Graduate Tax Scholar at Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C., where she was awarded a full scholarship to work towards an LL.M. in Taxation.
Jhonell Campbell ’19 earned a promotion from Legal Fellow to Legal Counsel at T. Rowe Price on June 1st. Jhonell would like to thank all of the faculty and staff who have played a role in the development and continuation of the Business Law Fellowship, which provided her with the opportunity to begin her legal career in-house.
Qin Cao ’20 interned at the House of Representatives as a legislative fellow for Congresswomen Yvette Clarke, served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Judge Bailey at the Circuit Court for Baltimore County, and also worked for Professor Moon as a research assistant. In addition, she spent her first-year summer at Baker McKenzie, LLP and White & Case, LLP and has secured a job in a law firm in DC.
Ji-Young “Jayne” Chung ’20 competed at the Tenth Annual Securities Dispute Resolution Triathlon sponsored by the Financial Institutional Regulatory Authority and won both First Place in Mediation and the Advocate’s Choice Award. She has accepted a job in the tax group at Venable in Baltimore.
Ashley Creech ’19, who earned a Health Law Certificate in addition to completing the Business Law Track, accepted a job at Epstein Becker & Green in Washington, D.C.
Daniel Davis ’13 was appointed by the President of the Florida Bar to serve as Chair of the Florida Bar Clients’ Security Fund for the 2019-2020 term.
Joseph Fiocco ’21 has contributed to three pieces recently published online while interning at JDKatz, PC, in Bethesda, including “Insight: Between a Pandemic and a Hard Place—State and Local Governments Respond to Coronavirus-Prompted Budget Shortfalls,” “A Developer’s Guide for Navigating the Historic Preservation Review Process in the District of Columbia,” and “Honoring Your Loved One’s Wishes: How to Start Administering an Estate.”
Hunter Haines ’20 earned a CALI award in the Intellectual Property & Entrepreneurship Clinic, served as the Notes & Comments Editor for the Maryland Law Review, and was the Vice President of the Business Law Society. During school he worked as a law clerk at Shulman Rogers in Washington, DC, where he has accepted a job after graduation in their Business and Finance practice group.
Vishal Hemnani ’20 was the Maryland State Bar Association’s 2019 Mandell Business Law Scholarship Awardee and served as the President of the Business Law Society. Vishal has accepted a job at Ballard Spahr in Baltimore.
Sang Hyuk “Sean” Kim ’20 served as the Communications Chair of APALSA and was active in the Business Law Society. As a student attorney in the Small Business and Community Equity Development Clinic, Sean prepared articles of incorporation for a benefit corporation, advised a nonprofit organization on policy development, and helped to implement a new local zoning code.
Sisi Liu ’20 was a member of our award-winning Transactional Law Team that won Best Draft, and she also completed the Environmental Law Certificate. Sisi has accepted a job in international trade compliance at Thomsen and Burke.
John Makres ’20 has accepted a job in business and tax law at Levin & Gann in Towson, Maryland.
Elizabeth McClellan ’21 was invited to be a panelist for the Wilson Center’s virtual presentation “Masterclass on Facial Recognition and Analysis” on July 9, 2020. Elizabeth received this invitation to speak about her article “Facial Recognition Technology: Balancing the Benefits and Concerns,” recently published in the Journal of Business & Technology Law.
Hillary Pham ’20 is the first Maryland Carey Law graduate to have completed the Business Law Track concentration in conjunction with both the Health Law Certificate and the Cybersecurity and Crisis Management Law Certificate. Additionally, Hillary has accepted a clerkship starting this August for the Honorable Yvette Bryant, the 8th Circuit Court judge for Baltimore City.

Valeriya Zavyalova ’20 served as Executive Symposium & Articles Editor for the Maryland Law Review. In that role, she organized a symposium dedicated to emerging issues in Delaware corporate law.
David Zumbrunn ‘20 came to the University of Maryland with over 15 years of experience in the mortgage industry. As a working professional, David juggled a demanding career at Fannie Mae in Washington, DC, including a fair amount of travel, with evening law school classes and family life with his wife and two sons. David still managed to earn his law degree in only three-and-a-half years, and he is now evaluating how best to leverage his new law degree in the real estate finance industry.
