Our Career Development Office (CDO) is a student-centered team of legal recruitment professionals who work with students and alumni to share the knowledge and tools that they need to pursue their career goals. Our team shares a passion for helping you navigate your job search to obtain legal experience and employment in your career area of interest. We help you to create and advance your career plan through individualized advising, coordinated recruitment programs, connecting you with alumni, and providing access to professional workshops and resources that will direct you through the career exploration and job search process.
Administration & Staff
Dana L. Morris, JD
Assistant Dean for Career Development
Dean Morris leads the Career Development Office, overseeing all aspects of it services to students. With more than 20 years of legal recruiting expertise, she manages the CDO team and the delivery of its career advising and recruitment programs, as well as leading its employer development and outreach efforts. Before joining Maryland Carey Law, Dean Morris was the Director of the Career Planning Center at the University of Miami School of Law in Coral Gables, Florida. Prior to entering law school administration, she was an associate at a general practice law firm in Peoria, Illinois. In her previous career, Dean Morris was chief manager of internal communications for Bank of Boston (now Bank of America) and a marketing communications editor in corporate publications at The New England. Dean Morris earned a J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law and a B.A. with honors from Boston University. She participates in the AALS Section on Student Services and is an active member of the Washington Area Recruitment Administrators Association (WALRAA) and the National Association for Law Placement (NALP), where she served on its Board of Directors (2009-2011) and has held a variety of other leadership positions. A frequent presenter, she has been recognized for her expertise involving legal recruitment, diversity pipeline efforts, and expanding opportunities for women in the legal profession.
M. Teresa Schmiedeler, JD
Managing Director, Public Service Programs & Outreach
M. Teresa Schmiedeler counsels students on pursuing careers in government and other public service career opportunities. Ms. Schmiedeler directs the Public Interest Externship Workshop, conducts outreach to public service employers, and oversees the administration of the UM Carey Law Public Interest Loan Repayment Program. She also works closely with the Maryland Public Interest Law Project (MPILP) law student organization to raise funds for summer public interest fellowships. Ms. Schmiedeler has published several articles in legal trade periodicals. Prior to her position at Maryland, Ms. Schmiedeler worked as a public interest career counselor at a Washington, DC law school and also practiced law for seven years as a Legal Aid attorney in Connecticut and Missouri. She is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, Delivery of Legal Services and Maryland State Bar Association, Special Committee on Wellness, NALP Public Service Committee and serves as Faculty Advisor to the Maryland Public Interest Law Project (MPILP) law student led not for profit organization.
Jennifer Pollard, JD
Director, Judicial Clerkships
Jennifer Pollard (‘03) counsels students on securing judicial clerkships and judicial internships. She received her JD from Maryland Law and her BS in Political Science and Economics from Towson University. After graduating from law school, Ms. Pollard clerked for the Honorable James P. Salmon on the Court of Special Appeals of Maryland, before practicing business law at Ridberg Sherbill & Aronson in Bethesda and corporate and real estate transaction law at Whiteford Taylor & Preston LLP in Baltimore.
Rebecca H. Bossle, JD
Director for Private Practice Programs
Rebecca (Hassinger) Bossle (’03) counsels students pursuing careers in private practice. She also conducts outreach to law firms, runs the Career Development Office’s spring and fall recruitment programs, coordinates with local law firms for the 1L Firm Night networking program, organizes the annual Mock Interview Program, and manages other legal recruiting initiatives.
Ms. Bossle is a proud native of Maryland. She earned a Bachelor of Arts with honors in Economics from St. Mary’s College of Maryland in 2000, where she was a member of the Honors Program. She also studied for a semester at the Institute for Economic and Political Studies at the University of Cambridge. She is a Maryland Carey Law graduate from the class of 2003. Prior to joining the Career Development Office, she was an insurance coverage and insurance defense litigator with Leder & Hale in Towson and Drechsler, Larkin & Walters in Baltimore. She is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the National Association for Law Placement, and the Washington Area Legal Recruitment Administrators Association.
Aaron M. Graham, JD
Associate Director of Career Counseling
Aaron Graham advises students on conducting effective job searches for legal careers and assists with the development and implementation of Career Development Office recruitment and educational programming for private and public sector career opportunities. Prior to joining Maryland Carey Law, Aaron served as the Director of Legal Recruiting for the Baltimore branch of Special Counsel, where he connected local attorneys, law school students, and recent graduates with regional corporations, law firms, and offices. Before joining Special Counsel, he also worked for Napoli Shkolnik, PLLC, advocating on behalf of plaintiffs in toxic tort litigation. Aaron earned his JD from New York Law School, and his BA in English from the University of Maryland, College Park.
Wendy Geist
Assistant Director, Alumni Outreach & Programs
Wendy has more than twenty-five years’ experience working with legal counsel in various capacities throughout her career. She brings a depth of experience from working with lawyers in a litigation consulting firm, T. Rowe Price, a mid-sized Baltimore law firm, Johns Hopkins University and now the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. Wendy possesses a unique lens of how a law degree can be used in varied career paths. Prior to joining the Career Development Office, Wendy served as a member of Maryland Carey Law’s Office of Student Affairs. Wendy earned her BA in Medieval History and Sociology from Muskingum University in New Concord, OH.
LaShea Blake
Senior Data and Resources Specialist
LaShea Blake joined the law school’s administration in 1991 and joined the Career Development Office in 1998. Ms. Blake coordinates and creates a variety of databases for the collection and reporting of programming, operational and employment data. She also manages the online and print subscriptions and resource materials for the CDO’s Resource Library and website as well as manages the office’s reciprocity program. Additionally, she administers the CDO’s judicial clerkship mailing program and is the point-person for the coordination of clerkship recommendation letters. Ms. Blake received a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Maryland University College.
Sierra Grinage
Office Manager for the Career Development Office
Sierra manages the administrative duties of the office and greets students, employers and visitors to the CDO. She updates and maintains the online job bank and Weekender e-newsletter, posting available career opportunities and announcements from a multitude of employers weekly to aid students and recent graduates who are pursuing employment. Sierra assists career counselors with the logistical aspects of the CDO’s many interview and other career-related programs. Sierra earned her Bachelors of Arts in Human Services from Southern New Hampshire University and will obtain her Master of Science in Human Resource Management in August 2025. Prior to joining the CDO at Maryland Carey Law, Sierra was the Assistant Director of Celebree School in Perry Hall, where she gained years of managerial experience.
