Women, Leadership & Equality Program: Fearless Feminist Lawyers

The Program provides an opportunity for students to engage in critical thinking about cutting-edge issues in gender and leadership. It seeks to produce lawyers, both male and female, who are aware of the barriers that face women seeking positions of leadership in society and who will actively promote women in these roles.

  • A research and theory seminar focusing on the empirical studies documenting the structural barriers to women ascending to positions of leadership.
  • An applied workshop in personal negotiation, communication, strategic career planning, business development and fundraising, organizational behavior and dynamics, and leadership development.
  • An optional externship/practicum offering students the opportunity to work with state, local and national organizations dedicated to serving women in need and shaping policy.

“I wanted to develop a program that examines the barriers that keep women from ascending to positions of leadership in the legal profession and then equip women with the skills they need to overcome those barriers and to remove them.”
