Environmental Law Clinic
Course Description
This clinic exposes students to the complexity of environmental law, with a focus on pollution, land use, and environmental justice. The Clinic represents and works with citizens, non-profit organizations, government, and community organizations. The Clinic is an appropriate choice for students interested in administrative law as well as environmental legislation and policy. Occasionally, the clinic works on litigation matters, when environmental administrative or legal liability decisions are heard by administrative tribunals or reviewed by courts. Depending on the Clinic’s docket, student attorneys may prepare comments on proposed regulatory decisions and pollution permits, participate in client counseling meetings, draft advocacy letters to government agencies, provide research support to co-counsel in litigation, write memos on complex environmental issues, or appear in court.
This clinic will be offered in fall 2025 and spring 2026 as a one-semester clinic for six credits. All students enrolled in fall clinic will be required to attend in-person clinic orientation on Friday, August 22, 2025, and those enrolled in spring clinic will be required to attend in-person clinic orientation on Friday, January 9, 2026, in addition to any clinic-specific orientation that the professor may schedule.
