Corporate Litigation Bootcamp

Course Description

The Corporate Litigation Bootcamp is a one-credit course designed for students interested in learning about corporate litigation. The course involves both substantive Delaware corporate law and corporate and commercial litigation procedures in the Delaware Court of Chancery. The first part of the course will include lectures on the mechanics of litigating a corporate or commercial case, with emphasis on the Delaware Court of Chancery. Discussions may cover a wide range of procedural and substantive issues, including subject matter jurisdiction, expedited litigation, books and records demands, preliminary injunction standards, and fiduciary duties of directors and officers. Students will then be split into two law firms with contained assignments for litigating a corporate case that involves both a collaborative writing requirement (motion practice) and oral advocacy (presentation of oral argument) designed to engage all students.

Business Associations is a prerequisite to enrolling in this course. Evidence and a prior course or other experience involving trial or oral advocacy are also recommended but not required. Students enrolled in the seminar will take the course on a credit/no credit basis.
