Environmental Law Seminar: Federal Commercial Chemical Regulation

Course Description

This course comprises a dive into the federal chemical regulation including regulation of chemicals in commerce and regulation of hazardous chemicals. The course will also survey state and international efforts to regulate chemicals. We will study the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), the Federal Food Drug, and Cosmetics Act (FFDCA), Global Hazard Communication Standards (GHS), and the California Safe Drinking Water Act (better known as “Prop 65”), and other statutes. We will discuss recent litigation, enforcement actions, and rulemakings, and the practical application of these laws to potential clients in the public and private sectors.
