Sexuality and the Law Seminar

Course Description

Students in this seminar will critically examine the case law regulating sexual identity, behavior, and expression. Major topics will include same-sex marriage, anti-sodomy laws, employment regulation as it pertains to sexual orientation and gender identity, and the intersection of sex and commerce. It is preferred that students have taken Constitutional Law II: Individual Rights, or that they take it concurrently with this course. The seminar will be heavily discussion-based. Students will be asked to submit a substantial scholarly work at the end of the semester on a topical subject of their choosing. The paper written for this seminar may be used to satisfy the Advanced Writing Requirement.
