Second-year day and third-year evening students participating in the Morris Brown Myerowitz Moot Court Competition are required to research and write an appellate brief and to participate in one or more rounds of oral argument. There are a total of four rounds in this single-elimination competition. Each participant argues one of the positions; if the participant advances to the next round, he or she will usually argue a different position from the previous round. The briefs and oral argument scores carry various weights throughout the four rounds, and the scores determine which participants advance to the next round. Students who advance to the semi-final and final rounds will have an opportunity to argue before distinguished members of the legal community, including judges and alumni.

All Moot Court Board Members-Elect who were selected from the Fall Competition must compete in the Myerowitz Competition in order to become full members of the Board, in addition to their other duties. Other students may participate in the Myerowitz Moot Court Competition, and non- Members-Elect who perform well in the competition may be invited to become members of the Moot Court Board. Upon recommendation of the faculty advisor to the Moot Court Board, participants receive one credit for competing in the Myerowitz Competition if their brief and oral arguments demonstrate a reasonable level of proficiency. This course is graded on a Credit/No Credit basis.
