Journal of Business and Technology Law
Course Description
From the effect of technology on securities markets, to the effects of the copyright law on e-commerce startups, to the invention of new business models for the vaccine development, issues at the intersection of business and technology law are pervasive and increasingly complex. The mission of the University of Maryland School of Law’s new Journal of Business and Technology Law is twofold—to provide a publication venue for the latest thinking on these issues and to provide a rigorous educational experience for our students. Although a variety of law journals are dedicated to business law and yet others focus on technology law, no publication expressly seeks to examine these issues together. The student editorial board and staff edit professional and student articles, reports, surveys and book reviews. Students are also required to fulfill a writing requirement, and to assist with the administrative functioning of the journal. First-year students compete for staff positions by entering the writing competition held jointly with other student-published journals. Grading is on a credit/no credit basis. Allocation of credits:
Total Number of Credits | Allocation of Credits/Semester |
48 credits/semester 2 issues/year Web Catalogue 20 Editors and 20 staff members | Editor-in-Chief - 3 Managing Editor - 3 Executive Notes & Comments Editor – 2 Executive Symposium Editor – 2 Executive Articles Editor – 2 Executive Technology Editor – 2 Articles Editors (6) - 1 Notes & Comments Editors (3) – 1 Associate Editors (5) - 1 Staff Members (20) – 1 |
An increase in the total number of credits allocated to a co-curricular organization requires Curriculum Committee approval. An internal reallocation of credits requires the involvement and approval of the organization’s faculty advisor. The approval of the faculty advisor is also required for any proposed reallocation of credits that involves an increase in the total number of staff members.
