Externship Workshop / Asper Judicial Fellowship Workshop

Course Description

This Workshop is designed as a complement to experiential learning for students who are enrolled in an externship or judicial fellowship during the summer. The one-credit class will meet for a two-hour session each week for seven weeks. Students will participate in guided discussion about assigned readings and their site experiences, hear from guest speakers in practice, examine case studies, and prepare reflective memoranda on their externships, with an emphasis on writing proficiency. The course will cover such topics as thoughtful decision-making, email etiquette, networking and relationship building, prudent use of social media, career planning, and other areas of professional development important to the rewarding practice of any profession. Selected case studies and journal articles as topically appropriate may supplement the assigned text, Judgment in Managerial Decision Making (Bazerman & Moore, 2009). Grading is on the A - F scale.
