Course Description
A survey of the maritime industry and the history of admiralty and maritime law; maritime tort and contract jurisdiction; in rem and in personam actions; marine insurance; cargo; charter parties; arbitration; maritime liens and ship mortgages; salvage; collision; personal injury (Jones Act and Longshoremen's Act); indemnity and contribution; limitation of shipowner's liability; practice and procedure; maritime arrest and attachment; towage and portage; pollution liability; and the involvement of the United States in maritime law and the maritime industry.
