US Cyber Command Academic Engagement Network (AEN)
The University of Maryland Carey School of Law was selected, as the first law school, to be part of the US Cyber Command’s Academic Engagement Network. The goal of the AEN is to foster relationships between cutting edge academic institutions and the entire US Cyber Command enterprise.
Maryland Carey Law was chosen by US Cyber Command due to the Law School’s strong cyber law program, developed and lead by CHHS. The academic partnership with US Cyber Command provides a mutually beneficial relationship between the US Cyber Command, CHHS and Maryland Carey Law and will include, regular “Tech Talks,” collaborative projects, internship and recent grad opportunities, mentorships, and more.
State of Maryland Cybersecurity Council
CHHS Director Michael Greenberger and CHHS Cybersecurity Director Markus Rauschecker are members of the Maryland Cybersecurity Council, which is chaired by the Maryland Attorney General. As members of the Council, CHHS and its student externs, advise on legislative initiatives in the state as well as critical infrastructure protection.
Expert Testimony
CHHS staff are regularly asked to provide expert testimony to federal, state, and local governmental bodies on cyber law and policy as well as data privacy issues. CHHS has testified before the Maryland Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee, Maryland House Economic Matters Committee, Maryland Senate Finance Committee, and the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on East Asia, the Pacific, and International Cybersecurity Policy
